Inpatient Medical Coding is a completely ONLINE certificate program.
The Inpatient Medical Coding Certificate program is designed to prepare Health Information Professionals for careers focused on procedural and diagnostic coding in inpatient facility settings. The curriculum emphasizes accurate coding for reimbursement of professional services and includes coursework in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, inpatient procedural coding (ICD-10-PCS), diagnostic coding (ICD-10-CM), and medical regulations.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for national certification examinations offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and/or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Admission to the Advanced Medical Coding for Inpatients (AMCO) program requires applicants to have successfully completed a Medical Record Coding program and complete only HIM 225 and HIM 250, or hold a current medical coding credential such as CPC, CCA, or CCS and previous employment as a certified medical coder within the last two years.
The AMCO program is offered 100% online and is supported by a variety of learning resources, along with opportunities for direct communication with the program manager and instructors to support student success.
