Computer Technology (CMPT), A.A.S.

The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology builds upon the first-year certificate experience to prepare students for a wide range of careers in information technology. Whether students begin with the Computer Specialist or Cybersecurity Certificate, the associate degree expands their technical depth, problem solving ability, and career readiness.

The program integrates general education coursework with advanced studies in programming, networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Students learn to analyze business and information systems challenges, design practical technology solutions, and support modern computing environments.

 

During the second year, students refine their career direction through advanced coursework and specialization options, allowing them to align their skills with workforce needs and professional interests. The degree represents a comprehensive IT skill set that supports entry into theworkforce or continued professional certification and academic advancement.

A grade of “C” or higher is required in all CMPT coursework for graduation.

 

**   While pursuing the Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology degree, students will choose from one of two pathways, Computer Specialist or Cybersecurity, to guide their course selections.  Students are encouraged to work closely with their academic advisors to ensure their chosen courses align with their academic and career goals.  Additional considerations include noting when each course is offered (by term) and ensuring that all prerequisites are met before registering for subsequent courses. **
